Vehicle Communication Gateway

The VCG Vehicle Communication Gateway allows users to bridge multiple modules and busses including CAN, CAN-FD, LIN and Automotive Ethernet with this single, innovative, easy to configure standalone data translation device. The VCG will host user-developed programs for applications such as node simulation, watchdog timer functions, CAN to CAN FD translation and more.

The VCG housing is weatherproof and easy to configure and features multi-port, multi-bus message routing and data translation. VCG is designed for both in-vehicle or test cell use.

VCG Overview

The VCG-1 Vehicle Communication Gateway is an easy to configure, multi-port, multi-bus message routing and data translation device. Designed to normally operate standalone, it can help bridge multiple modules as systems transition to newer communication busses and technologies, such as CAN-FD and Automotive Ethernet. It has the ability to run user written scripts to process the messages and data it routes, allowing it to connect multiple modules together using different protocols and physical layers.

ATI’s solution for this is the Vehicle Communication Gateway, also known as VCG, which allows users to take existing hardware and convert the physical and transport layers into the new bus.

Application - Pre Production


For Pre Production use case ATI's VCG simulates a node and/or gateway on a development network. In this example the VCG is receiving a CAN FD signal from an ECU and broadcasting a LIN signal to the motor, simulating a new module.

For Post Production use case ATI's VCG acts as a gateway between vehicle network(s). In this example the VCG is receiving a CAN FD signal from an ECU and translating the signal to a Classic CAN format, which is what the switch is expecting.
