VISION VERSION 4.1 Introduces Its Recorder Catalog Feature and Data Analysis Enhancements

Accurate Technologies Inc. announces the release of VISION Calibration and Data Acquisition Software, version 4.1. It introduces new convenient features such as the Recorder Catalog, Text Control screen object, and new Virtual Channel formula types. Additional highlights focus on increased capabilities of data analysis, and 2D and 3D tables. VISION device compatibility continues its expansion with support for all new and future versions of the ATI EMX Data Acquisition Series devices and ETAS Lambda meters. Some of the VISION 4.1 release features are outlined in more detail below.
New Recorder Catalog
VISION’s Recorder Catalog provides a means of indexing and searching a large number of recordings (.REC files) by the metadata fields contained within them. Once directories are configured for inclusion in the recorder catalog search, a searchable index is created from metatags associated with the recorder files in those directories. This index can then be grouped, searched or filtered based on those descriptions. The index automatically updates as new recordings are created and selected entries can be opened in VISION with a double-click.
In addition, custom metadata fields for user-specific information can be created for recordings using the new Custom Template Manager found in the Tools menu. To include custom data in a recording, select a metadata template from the Custom Fields Template setting selection on the Recorder Properties General Tab.
Text Control Screen Object
The Text Control screen object acts as a “virtual note” that may be inserted in to any VISION screen to allow rich text and images to be displayed alongside data lists and recorder controls. This control can serve many purposes including providing instructions, comments, or any other information needed for quick reference.
2D and 3D Table Enhancements
RAM Array Element Support
The RAM array feature allows VISION to acquire individual cells from tables and arrays that are stored in RAM rather than the entire table or array. Individually selected cells can be displayed in a Data List or 2D and 3D Table screen objects. Any RAM array elements in a Data List or being recorded will automatically enable the cells in the table controls.
To monitor specific cells or the entire table of RAM array elements, select the range of cells desired, Right-click in the table and select "Choose Measurements -> Enable Measurement" from the context menu.

Measurement arrays that are defined using the ASAM ASAP2 keyword MATRIX_DIM will produce a set of scalar values that represent the cells of the table. VISION 4.1 will also generate an array that correlates to the scalar values. This array can be used in table-based screen objects.
Data Analysis Enhancements
Save Layout during a Partial REC file Export
When performing the Partial Export of a recorder file, the option to copy the current layout to the exported .rec file has been added. This saves time in having to re-apply a layout to the new partial file later.
Trace Page Copy and Paste
Trace pages can now be copied and pasted into the same file or to a different recorder file. Use this new feature to copy the formatting of one Trace Page to additional recordings.
More Functions for Calculated and Virtual Channels
VISION 4.1 offers several new functions to be used with Virtual Data Items and Calculated Channels. They include functions that provide:
- g_min(D) – the global minimum value of a data item.
- g_max(D) – the global maximum value of a data item
- std(D) – the standard deviation of a data item.
- ms_min(D,n) – a value that is the minimum value across n samples.
- ms_max(D,n) – a value that is the maximum value across n samples.
- ms_stds(D,n) – a value that is the standard deviation across n samples.
- mt_sum(D,t) – Sum over the time interval [0,t] seconds.
- mt_min(D,t) – Minimum over the time interval [0,t] seconds.
- mt_max(D,t) – Maximum over the time interval [0,t] seconds.
- mt_mean(D,t) – Mean over the time interval[0,t]seconds.
- mt_stds(D,t) – Standard deviation (sample type) of the dataitem D over the last n seconds.
EMX Data Acquisition Series
In anticipation of the continued expansion of the EMX Series of Data Acquisition Series, VISION 4.1 provides support for future EMX devices. Also included is the ability to update EMX internal firmware in the field.
Expanding VISION compatibility also includes the ability to add the ETAS ES635 Lambda meter to the RS-232 port in VISION using the SMB protocol, and the ES430 Ethernet connection to the TCP/IP port connection with XCP protocol.
