ATI specifies small package sizes to ensure customers can fit product in tight spaces within test vehicles. Reduced package size can be accomplished by removing components which reduces functionality. ATI preserves functionality by placing the components closer together. The challenge is that with components so close together it can be difficult to see problems or provide opportunities for testing. These issues are avoided by the use of ATI's own X-ray machine to provide tight control of quality by enabling inspection of solder joints and providing views beneath components that are otherwise not visible.
