VISION Hub Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How does data transfer, from the EDAQ to the Hub, occur?A. ATI proprietary protocol (ICP) over a CAN physical layer.
Q. All of my USB devices are powered up, but they will not go online, what do I do?
A. Try one of the following:
1) USB driver is not installed properly in Windows.
2) Incorrect USB driver installed in Windows.
3) Faulty USB port on the PC.
4) Faulty USB Defender.
5) Faulty 4 port commercial splitter.
6) Faulty USB cables.
7) Problems exist at the USB device.
Q. My USB connection intermittently goes offline while I am running a test, what should I do?
A. Try one of following:
1) Vehicle Ground Loop
USB can be susceptible to ground loops. Check your test setup for possible causes.
2) USB Cable Distance
If your test environment is subject to extreme ground noise, the length of your cable could cause intermittent problems. Based on the USB standard tolerance for noise protection, ATI recommends that USB cables in these environments be no more than 8 feet in length. NOTE: The total USB cable length includes the length of the Electronic Control unitās internal USB cable.
If you suspect your cables are causing problems, ATI offers USB cables with proper lengths and additional EMI chokes to further improve EMI noise control. These cables are built specifically for a vehicle environment. Please contact your local ATI Sales Account Manager or contact your local Technical support representative.
Q. How much current does the ATI hardware units draw?
A. Hub Approx 100-200mA
In Vehicle; 1 Hub, 1 AI EDAQ moduleĀ and 2 T EDAQ modules draw about 1 amp.
Q. What is the extra CAN channel with VNI card used for?
A. This CAN channel is for communication with a vehicle or engine CAN bus for calibration
